Welcome

Welcome to my personal website! If you’re here for business, please follow one of the links on the left-hand navigation bar for more information. Otherwise, feel free to begin with this simple Q&A.

Q: Is this work or is it play?
Answer: Both. In general, I like the idea of fun work. But the two intersect more often in theory than in reality. For example, I enjoy playing Warhammer Fantasy Battles; however, painting takes a lot of time and effort. Even for my own armies, it’s quite a labor of love. I also love languages, but translating anything more than a few pages stops being fun and starts being work very fast. As a rule, I will not charge for anything that I cannot do with craftsmanship and professionalism. More on that in my Translation page.

Q: Do I recognize your face from somewhere?
Answer: Possibly. If so, it’s probably because you live in Nagoya, Japan. As Chukyo University’s unofficial poster boy, I occasionally find myself 2x normal size inside subway stations. Alternately, you might have just known me in High School.

Q: Do I recognize your name from somewhere?
Answer:
Maybe. Lori and David Deitrick, my parents, both worked for over 20 years as illustrators in the Science Fiction/ Fantasy publishing world. My dad is best known for his work in the games Traveller and BattleTech, but they have both worked for companies like Wizards of the Coast, Palladium Books, Chaosium, Steve Jackson Games and Iron Crown Enterprises. My mom paints portraits as well, and my dad is an experienced sculptor.
